We tend to think that in a virtually connected world, any differences between countries and cultures would gradually disappear. Real life proves that they don’t.
This is typical for a masculine environment: It is very competitive and winner-oriented. In such cultures, it is important to be good and meet the targets – but it's even more important that others see that you're good. Spending more time at the office than others means you’re dedicated and ambitious. The display of framed diplomas or university insignias are proof of education and social status. However, in less masculine cultures, these status symbols are not recognized, it would not be considered as an achievement but simply as pathetic showing off.
